The Secret Servant Gabriel Allon Daniel Silva Books

The Secret Servant
Daniel Silva

This is Silva’s seventh entry in the Gabriel Allon series. This is the second time reading it for me. I first read it when it was published. Early this year I began re-reading the Allon series from the first entry. So every other book I have read this year has been an ‘Allon’.
All that being said, I am even more impressed with Mr. Silva’s dedication to his mission to reveal or remind the readers, old and new, that no one is safe and no one can be complacent and what has happened before can happen again if we are careful to not ignore the past and its remnants extant today.

But, this is no text book. It is no diatribe. This is a first rate author doing extraordinary research on all facets of his characters’ lives, professions, assets, weaknesses, skills and habits. His fiction is a wrapper for the historical facts but his story telling, plot weaving and character consistency is compelling, exciting and entertaining. Kale may be a necessary vegetable but frozen and dipped in dark chocolate makes eating it a lot more interesting.

Mr. Silva does not shy away from the reality of terrorism or counterterrorism. He will fight fire with fire. So, his books are not for the squeamish.

And finally, if there is someone out there as yet not familiar with Mr. Silva’s work, I recommend that you first read the Acknowledgments in any of his books. This is always a fascinating section of his books. It is not a glad hand piece of puff. One can read how he learned about his subject matter and who he relied upon for research and tutelage and who helped him. This list is full of equally talented and dedicated people in their fields and, for me, says a lot about who Mr. Silva is and how he regarded in his field.

My recommendation is that this book is a superb use of your time.

The Secret Servant Gabriel Allon Daniel Silva Books Reviews

I love the character Gabriel Allon. This book points out so many of the horrible things done by terrorists and some of the beliefs that push them to do the things that they do. It was a beautifully written story and fast paced. I often wonder how Mr. Silva can put so much into such a small space yet I love the way he writes. Even though this is another wonderful work of fiction the content hits so close to home and the worldwide incidents that are occurring it makes it so very real and plausible.
For many these novels provide insight into the Middle East and the conflict between Israel and the Palestinians. Israel is truly in a no-win situation, although beset by murderous terrorists, any retaliation is regarded by the media as harsh and unnecessary. It is my earnest hope that Israel will take any independent action required to guarantee the continued existence of the Jewish state. Surrender would mean their annihilation.
In the process of reading through Daniel Silvia's Gabriel Allon series. This is book seven(7) in the series and although all the preceding six have been well written, captivating and informatively full of interesting detail, this book is the best with its unexpected plot twists and impeccable character development. On to number eight (8), can't wait.
I enjoy reading the Gabriel Allon book series. Also to date i have now read Every book up to book sixteen (16). In my opinion this reviewed book is definitely one of his very best.
Totally non stop action from page onwards. Fasten your seat belts as you will not be able to put this book down.
Highly Recommended!!!
Perhaps I was just in the right mood for it, but this Gabriel Allon spy adventure was very compelling. In this story, the daughter of the American Ambassador to England and goddaughter to the standing US President is kidnapped by Islamic terrorists. Some of Silva's previous Allon books have seemed rather repetitive, but this takes some unexpected twists, and new characters are developed well enough for the reader to care about the outcome.
All of the Gabriel Allon books give you a good mystery and and a fair amount of art history in each book. On the positive side Daniel Silva, is a good writer with great sources; on the negative side whole passages and parragraphs are lifted from one book to the next. Every description of either Gabriel Allon, is the same word for word in every book as is the basic write up of his team and evry mention of King Saul Boulevard. If I had tried doing that in either high school or college evey teacher would have circled the phrases and sent it back for either more description or to be reworked completely.
Gabriel Allon, the unlikely and reluctant spy & assassin stumbles across a plot by Egyptian terrorist group, The Sword of Allah, to kidnap the daughter of the American ambassador to the Court of St. James. Failing to stop the abduction, Gabriel is drawn into the efforts to rescue Elizabeth. Joining hands with MI5, MI6,the CIA and the FBI, Gabriel races against time to find and rescue Elizabeth.
Nail biting, edge of the seat, thriller - what we have come to expect from Daniel Silva.
