This is the first book in a series and after finishing this one, I look forward to the next. The main character, Legacy, is highly original despite the plethora of FBI agent driven thrillers out there. This story does contain some disturbing content and the concept was very creepy - great ingredients for an edgy thriller. The plot revolves around a group of men who abduct females and then debase them online. They charge for online access and call it donations to help free the woman as an unnamed sum is her ransom amount. The hostage parts are sickening but add to the impact of the story. Some details are harrowing and I have to admit to skipping ahead in some spots to avoid details but the author, thankfully, avoids too many explicit details.
The story centers around the oddball FBI agent named Legacy. His personal background was interesting and I could see several of the narratives presented here becoming future stories in this series. Personally, I would love to see the story of the young Russian girl fleshed out and perhaps updated. His overly protective relationship with his daughter was another avenue left open. I was also intrigued by his female partner and genius hacker buddy. There were so many interesting characters in this story but the scary online porn plot drove the story. This is one of those books that you read into the night, hoping the good guys win in the end.
Forget Patterson, this author knows how to write a thriller with a great FBI character. Hopefully, Legacy will continue to work those urgent cases that demand our attention. I know I'll be there to read the next one.

Ransom X A Legacy Mystery Book 1 edition by I B Holder Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
FBI agent, Martin Legacy, was a fascinating main character. I look forward to reading about him again. The opening of the story was a little shocking and the subject matter/crime was not pleasant, but it was gripping until the very end. I would say that I couldn't put it down but actually at times it was so intense that I had to so I could catch my breath. I will definitely read the next Legacy novel.
Extremely enjoyable. Look forward to next LegAcy story. Question for others does it bother other readers that the editing can b so inaccurate? Spelling and connotations make me think English is not the transcribers first language
I loved the insight into the thought processes of Agent Legacy. I've met (and even dated) a few men like him before and always wondered what was churning behind those piercing eyes. Such insight into Legacy's training and knowledge of human nature was almost spooky. Character development of him and others was quite robust. The story itself was plausible, well developed, and spellbinding. It was my first book of choice every time I opened my .
I've read feedback from authors stating that the conversion process to format introduces some typos; however, this novel was fraught with many more than any other I've ever read. Words were missing in the middle of sentences every few pages, making sentences difficult or impossible to comprehend; words were substituted, such as "the" for "that"; and there were some outright missed edits, such as using "messaged" instead of "massaged." Also the writer's style didn't flow well. Among casual flowing storyline would be interspersed a long complex sentence that seemed totally out of place - one the author obviously spent a lot of time composing - but it broke the flow of reading, storytelling, and pacing of the novel. I'd like to read the next in the series but not without further editing before release.
All I can say is wow loved this book.Great mystery well written great characters I would recommend this book. Can't wait for the next book.
Nope, I don't think there was an editor within 10 miles of this book...ever.
The story was original & captured my interest from the start. The writing was excellent, for the most part. The characters were well developed & interesting.
But seriously...editor, please! When I have to re-read a section 4 times to figure out who is saying what & how it relates to some other part of the story, then there's a problem. This situation arose time & again, & I almost put the book away rather than wrestle down the headache it caused. There were more than a few times I just said skip it & kept reading, hoping I wasn't missing important information I would need later.
I love the protagonist. He's amusing & engaging, & I just want to sit in a room & stare at his brain working (as long as I don't have to listen to all the screeching music he enjoys so much). His "partner" is the perfect sidekick, & they feed off each other well. The story & characters really have the ability to become classic because of Holder's developmental & writing skills.
So I love the story! But Holder, please get an editor. No, seriously. Do it. 4 stars.
This was a free book but I'd be happy to pay for it since I re-read it often. Yes, the editing was a bit lax. I normally don't have much patience with typos etc., but the story enthralls and mistakes blow right by. I love Holder's characters. I love the story he weaves and I love his pace. I downloaded the book 5 years ago and keep checking for more. Dear I. B. Holder, PLEASE write another.
You have to get pass the first few pages in order to get into the book but once you do you will enjoy Legacy. He is a protector of his daughter...a defiant agent that gets the job done. He has some issues that he works through by the end of the book but he is brilliant. He gets inside of the criminal's mind, think like them, walks like them and sometimes talks like them to get the job done. By the end of the book I was so consumed with Legacy I couldn't put it down. I must admit I had to re-read some parts in order to follow the story. Like Blade's brothers in the house and.....wait I don't want to give away too much. It amazed me how Legacy processed information in order to get his man. Or should I say his men.
